Poem by: Ben Dunk. September 1978.
TWO DESIRES
In the consummate heart of the lover
Dwells the desire to consume
To the creature of lust nothing is the answer
But to the predator of primeval affection
Comes the oblivion of communion
Let the instinct roll on and
In extant time stand tranquil
Fill then the fulfillment of love
Descend into the order of stimulation
Desire non-intransigence of each other’s soul
Then the lost dreams come into focus
And the surveillance of adoration becomes mutual
They are one in the natural and mystical elements
They conspire in a head-locked embrace
Whilst bodies satiate their own conception of humanity.
